2 killed in crash off Highway 1 in San Mateo County Two people were killed following a crash on Highway 1 in San Mateo County. One of the involved vehicles plunged 50-feet into a nearby lagoon. PESCADERO, Calif. - Two people were killed after their vehicles submerged into a lagoon in San Mateo County Tuesday evening following a crash, according to the California Highway Patrol. A Tesla and gray Subaru SUV were involved in a collision around 6:40 p.m. on Highway 1 at Bean Hollow Road, officials said.
